FAQs

How early should I arrive?

Please be on time to your scheduled session to make the most of your lesson. Typically there will be at least a 5 minute break between each scheduled client to allow for a seamless transition.

How often should I book my sessions?

If we are doing private or small group training together we will go over your goals during our initial consultation. Are you looking for a short-term intensive program or a long-term program? I offer both options for training. Depending on your goals and availaibility we will come up with a plan tailored specifically for you and your desires that includes training in person together and a home program for you to do on your own.

Do you work with dancers or athletes who train elsewhere or are part of a bigger studio?

Yes! I believe Elevated Forms makes a great supplementary training program and I encourage dancers to be a part of a studio community in addition to working with me. There are so many elements of movement training that a studio atmosphere provides. These benefits include comraderie, friendly competition, different teaching perspectives, class ettiquete and working with a group. Dancers are able to apply the exponential growth experienced in their training with me to a larger class and rehearsal environment with others.

What do I need and where can we meet?

Join me at my small garage studio space in North Bend, WA for training. We are excited to build out this space for Elevated Forms private and small group training sessions. The studio has a 8 - 10 foot sprung floor, glassless mirror, microformer and all of the equipment we will need.
I am also available to meet at the studio of your choice in the greater Seattle area. There are additional fees for meeting externally including studio rental fees (should that apply), transportation, and childcare.

What if I am not a dancer?

Not a dancer? No problem, you are a great candidate for Elevated Forms - Fitness. I have an expansive background and I am excited to work with all types of clients. I am here to help you achieve your movement goals whether that is through the art of dance or through strength-training. My fitness method uses upbeat music and flows like a dance class but dance experience is not required! I always offer modifications and variations during our workouts together so that the movement is tailored to what you need.

Do you work with beginning dancers and movers?

Yes, everyone has to start somewhere. I work with beginning to professional dancers and movers ages 7 + up. We focus on building and refining a strong technical platform that can be applied to all types of movement including dance, ice skating, gymnastics, acrobatics, and diving. With our specialized training we will be able to get dancers and movers from beginner to advanced through guidance and hard work. We all have to start somewhere. I am excited to be a part of your journey.

What do I wear?

We are dancing and working out so you need to be in dancewear or athletic wear! Please be in formfitting outfits like leggings, bike shorts, leotards, sports bras, half-tops. We need to be dressed to prioritize function, form, and tradition. Dancers need to be dressed to allow for full range of motion, and so that we can clearly see their alignment, posture and techniqe in order for me to provide accurate feedback and corrections. It is important to be in traditional dancewear to maintain the established aesthetic and customs of ballet and contemporary dance. I believe that we work harder and work better when we are dressed for the part.

Virtual Class Etiquette

1. Please arrive on time. If you arrive after class has started it may take a moment to let you in the meeting.

2. If you need to leave early it's totally cool. We all have busy schedules and I am so glad that you showed up and took time out of your day to move your body. If you have another meeting or child to get to you can go ahead and sign off, no judgement.

3. Video on or off? It's up to you! Mic on or off? It's up to you! If you want to be annonymous and do your own thing I definitely respect that. If you want to hoot and holler and cheer everyone (or yourself) on you can do that too. I want you to feel free and comfortable to make class an inviting and enjoyable experience for yourself.

4. Question pops up during class? Put the question in the chat and I'll answer it after class. Feel free to stick around and chat with me when class is finished. Have somewhere to be? Send an email with the question to alexandra@elevatedforms.com and I'll definitely get back to you.
